OWCP Coverage for Denver-Area Federal Agencies
The Denver metro is home to tens of thousands of federal civilian employees — from VA nurses in Aurora to letter carriers in Northglenn to BLM staff at the Denver Federal Center. All of them fall under the same OWCP program, but each agency has quirks worth knowing before you file.
VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System
Aurora & Denver
Nurses, techs, custodial and food-service staff, police, and clinical providers at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center file CA-1s for lifting injuries, needle-sticks, and slip-and-fall incidents at rates well above the federal average. OWCP treats VA employees the same as any other federal worker under FECA — your choice of treating physician, your right to a CA-17.
United States Postal Service (USPS)
Denver P&DC, city carrier annexes
Letter carriers, mail handlers, and P&DC clerks see repetitive-motion, shoulder, knee, and lower-back injuries almost daily. Most are CA-2 occupational disease claims rather than CA-1 traumatic injuries — and that changes the paperwork (no COP, CA-7 from day one).

Civilian federal employees at Buckley — not active-duty military — are covered by OWCP. Contractors are not. If you're unsure whether you're covered, check your SF-50; federal civil-service employment triggers FECA.
Federal Bureau of Prisons — FCI Englewood
Littleton
Correctional officers file some of the highest per-capita OWCP claims in the country. Inmate-related assaults are CA-1; chronic shoulder/knee/back conditions from years on the tier are CA-2.
IRS, SSA, and other federal office employees

Ergonomic injuries — carpal tunnel, cervical radiculopathy, chronic low-back pain — are legitimate OWCP claims. File as CA-2 occupational disease and expect to need a detailed CA-20 narrative from your treating physician.
